The Strengthening Families Program is a seven-session program focused on reducing family-related risk factors for adolescent problem behaviors and building protective factors in young children and their parents or caregivers. SFP works in conjunction with C4Y Mentoring and other CYD programs to reduce substance abuse and violent or risky behaviors in area youth.
Each two-hour session includes time for both separate and joint skill-building groups for parents and children. The first hour is spent in separated groups before coming together as a family for the second half to practice what they learned, play games, and work on projects as a group.
The program is designed for boys and girls in grades 4-8 and their families in the 78744 area. Each session is offered at an elementary or middle school in the area. Our evidence-based curriculum is highly interactive and engaging for participants.
If you are a family member interested in taking part in this program, contact Maria Matthews at firstname.lastname@example.org or 512-444-9505.
