Mentoring

MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT IN THE LIFE OF A LOCAL CHILD

The most valuable way you can become involved with Youth Advocacy is through youth mentoring. For a few hours each month, you’ll be a crucial part of a program that fosters self-esteem, leadership skills, and academic success in at-risk youth.

Our mentors work with small groups of elementary and middle school students to develop healthy, positive relationships through trust, respect, and empathy. Group mentoring sessions are held for 1 hour each week on school grounds or virtually. Mentors should be available to work with their groups for 5 to 6 months. All schools that participate in our Connect 4 Youth mentoring program are located in the 78744 community.

I have always loved working with kids and growing up in Austin made it even more worthwhile. I was able to give back to my community and be able to invest in the next generation.

The work I do for the mentoring program is so rewarding and important. I am so grateful to be a part of their lives.

It gives the students something to look forward to. You can tell they get excited when they join and immediately start talking to you about what's going on in their lives.
